Empowering women and girls has been the foundation of Athleta's corporate goals and initiatives. Athleta, a division of the Gap Corporation, is a certified B Corp company which means they've met the "highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profits and purpose." They've set ambitious goals to empower women, use sustainable materials, reduce water consumption, and minimize waste for 2020.
Inclusivity of women and girls is central to their mission. Their Power of She campaign and brand experience celebrates inclusivity and the power of women and girls uplifting one another. Gap's Personal Advancement & Career Enhancement (P.A.C.E.) program, implemented in 14 of their factories, gives women the foundational life skills, technical training and support to help them advance in the workplace and in their personal lives. In 2020, the company is committed to implementing the program in an additional 10 factories. Two of their factories are also Fair Trade certified.
I-WIL is excited to highlight the work Athleta is doing to empower women in their corporation and throughout the world.
Join us and Athleta's General Manager, Denise Gorant, to hear more about their programs and how they use business as a force of good to better the lives of women and girls.
