June marks the start of something special for Idaho Women In Leadership!  Join  Presidential Leadership Scholar Emily Baker & I-WIL for our first panel discussion, Navigating Difficult Conversations.  At this session, learn how to prepare for and engage in productive discussions and create an environment that reduces stress, increases trust and improves relationships.


With decades of experience in communications, public and government relations and crisis management, Baker leads Portman Square Group Communications, a leading Boise-based strategic communications and public relations firm. Prior to founding PSG, Baker was Managing Partner and a Shareholder at Gallatin Public Affairs. Baker also spent 15 years between DC and New York. She served in the Bush Administration as the Regional Administrator of the General Services Administration (GSA) Northeast and Caribbean region and prior to that as Deputy Director of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs with the U.S. Department of Commerce. She also worked for former RNC Chair and Governor Haley Barbour at BGR Group. Emily began her career in Idaho as a policy aide to Governor Phil Batt.


Baker is Presidential Leadership Scholar and a distinguished practitioner and adjunct professor at Boise State University. She also serves on the Executive Board for the Boise State University Foundation, the Executive Board of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, Tsamoutales Strategies Advisory Board, the Advisory Board for Idaho Women in Leadership and the Idaho Strategic Energy Alliance Board. A fifth-generation Idahoan, Emily, her husband Mike and their three boys call Boise home
