Girls Scouts Get the Opportunity to See Themselves as Future Engineers

June 5, 2017

WTS stands for Women’s Transportation Seminar, it is an organization that has been advancing women in transportation since 1977.  Recently its Southwest Idaho chapter participated in the Transportation YOU program, which is an interactive mentoring program that gives girls from the age of 13-18 a chance to participate in activities that allow them to see themselves in careers in the transportation industry.

The chapter combined forces with Boise State’s Engineering & Science Festival and the Silver Sage Girl Scouts STEM Day.  The Silver Sage Girl Scouts had fun being involved in an activity that had them building their own highway interchanges using foam core, wooden blocks, and poster board.  They used their critical thinking skills, and created products that showed that Idaho would be in good hands with the next generation of female engineers, and future Idaho Women in Leadership!
